We have been working on building our conceptual understanding of fractions. We have been doing lots of cutting, folding and dividing! we have learned that in order to be a fraction, all the parts have to be EQUAL! We discovered that as the denominator (bottom number) gets bigger, the pieces get smaller. (example: one-fourth is greater than one-tenth) We also discovered that as the numerator (top number) gets bigger, we get more pieces. (example three-eighths is more than one-eighth) Fractions are so much fun!!!
